Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope. The organization is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their living conditions. Since its founding in 1988, Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity has served more than 150 families in Linn and Benton counties. The organization prides itself on building simple, decent and affordable homes that offer a high degree of energy efficiency and comfort for first-time homeowners, while also helping to revitalize neighborhoods. Habitat’s commitment to providing a “hand-up” resonates with people of diverse backgrounds, inviting everyone to come together to share a hammer and a common goal of helping neighbors in need. Cedar Valley Habitat is a proud member of The Greater Cedar Rapids Area Home Builders Association and fully committed to the community-wide effort to rebuild and revitalize our most cherished neighborhoods.
