This split level house built in 2000 had water damage from the derecho, and the entire upstairs has been remodeled. To open it up, a wall going up the stairs and pantry were eliminated. A cable railing and wide planked white oak flooring makes the room look much larger. White inset cabinetry on the perimeter and a large painted island offers abundant storage. The white marble countertop on the island conceals a pop up TV. Space from the coat closet was used to enlarge the hall bath, which has a deep soaking tub with tile surround. A collapsed ceiling in one of the bedrooms was the (unintentional) inspiration to turn it into a master walk in closet. The existing closet became a large dual shower, to create a luxury master bath. While keeping the existing “frame” of the house, the interior has been transformed to make maximum use of the space.
